Alexei Lapkin

Prof. Dr. Armin Reller is at the University of Augsburg, Germany where he is professor for resource strategy, he is also Chairman of the Environmental Science Center (ESC), member of the board of the AMU (Application Center for Materials and Science) and Chairman of the Graduate School “Resource Strategy Concepts for Sustainable Energy Systems” at the University of Augsburg. His research focuses on the synthesis and properties of functional materials relevant for energy and environment technologies. Specific attention is paid to ecological and socio-economic impacts of exploring and applying strategic resources. He received his education and PhD in Solid State Chemistry at the University of Zürich, Switzerland. He has been post doc in the Department of Physical Chemistry at the University Cambridge in England, completed a research stay at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and worked as Research Associate at the Inorganic-Chemical Institute of the University of Zürich. From 1992-1998 he has been Professor at the Institute of Inorganic and Applied Chemistry at the University of Hamburg; since 1995 he was co-ordinator of the Programme Solar Chemistry/Hydrogen/Regenerative Energy Carriers for the Swiss Office of Energy, Berne (Switzerland). He published more than 200 publications and he is member of the editorial board and publisher of two journals: Progress in Solid State Chemistry (Elsevier) and GAIA, Ökologische Perspektiven in Natur-, Geistes- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften (ökom-Verlag).
